This illustrated alphabet book explores the theme of “maladies”, ranging from illnesses and disorders to symptoms, physical abnormalities, and everyday discomforts, through a light-hearted and satirical lens. Rather than presenting these conditions literally, each letter is paired with an illustration that relies on visual metaphor, wordplay, exaggeration or euphemism, transforming potentially uncomfortable subjects into playful interpretations.

The project combines digital illustration with a deliberately constructed pseudo-pixel aesthetic, characterised by a grid-based structure that occasionally incorporates 45º angles to soften the rigidity of traditional pixel art.
